I have much to do, and yet so little time! Well, perhaps that is exaggerating a bit. I am hoping to be at least mildly productive while I'm back home though; I don't want to let my time here go to waste. I hope in a few months when I'm on my way back to Georgia (or wherever I may be going) I can say that I used this time wisely and that I have used it to grow.
Greetings to all out there from Travis in lovely WellStar Kennestone Hospital Room 601 Bed 2! It's one week after my initial admittance, and lucky me, still no news of discharge in sight!
Yup, last Monday I was admitted to the hospital for being, well, sick to say the least. I had low blood pressure, a high heart rate, and I dropped from about 120 pounds (my normal weight) to a whopping 93 pounds in roughly a 3 week period. I either have Chron's disease or ulcerative colitis, they haven't diagnosed it one way or the other yet, but they're both treated in a similar manner. They've put me on all sorts of medications, shot me full of a wide variety of steroids, and I've had IVs in me since I got here keeping me all alive and junk. I've even received blood twice now! So I'm clearly just having a barrel of fun.
On the bright side I am feeling much better now then I was a week ago. Tonya has been wonderful about keeping me company and getting stuff done for me while I'm trapped here. And I've been kept sane thanks to a combination of the hospital's Wi-Fi, Animal Crossing: Wild World, and Pokémon Diamond.
Since the timing of this mess was so poor I was forced to withdraw from Spring courses, and as a result I also have to move back home to California until the summer when I can hopefully get back in classes and return. It's unfortunate to say the least, but what can I do? My health takes priority. I'm going to miss being here and being separated from Tonya will be hard, but on the bright side she's coming with me for the weekend when I fly back home. It will be nice to show her where I'm from and introduce her to my family and friends. So that's actually exciting to be honest! And then after that hopefully she'll also be able to visit me during spring break.
Life is unpredictable sometimes, isn't it? You never know what lies around the corner.
